Dear Readers,

As you have probably already discovered there is one elderly gentleman in New York City who takes a decided dislike to our version of Speech Level Singing. I am absolutely thrilled with his discussion and find many good points on his criticism but unfortunately our version of Speech Level Singing is not the Speech Level Singing that he describes. The particular method that we practice and adhere to has a track record and voices that are currently at the MET Opera, Broadway and 135 Grammy’s.

I will be putting his teacher on my website, so you can compare his teacher and my teachers and right there you will see he hasn’t a clue. A lot of what we do is what we call “unfinished sounds” which may sound peculiar to the unknowing, uneducated “in our approach” casual listener. However, if you listen to the people who are singing on my website, you will see a consummate beautiful balance in their vocalism from bottom to top. So I hasten to tell you to make your comparison and don’t just listen to a vitriolic opinion of something that is entirely different from our teaching.

Quite frankly if the description that he gives of SLS was as he described it, we would never have had the track record that we have established. And certainly not patented and trademarked, all over the world by hundreds of teachers. Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute of Performing Art’s (LIPA) is the finest cutting edge pop school in the world and they only use our SLS Certified teachers. They have replaced their conventional methods of teaching singing for pop music and for Opera as well.
